It's Raining It's Pouring

Ahhhh. The sweet relief of a summer rain storm. It's been over a month since we last saw rain here in H-town and we're in dire need of it. There was much rejoicing this morning when it finally came.

It rained steadily throughout the morning and Micaiah came prepared. Just after finishing breakfast, she ran to her toys and snagged Noah's Ark off the shelf. She proceeded to place the ark on the window sill, sit on her little chair, and watch the rain. She was ready... are you?

A "Grand" Month

What?!? No post for June? That's because we were too busy having fun with the grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa West visited early in the month while Grandma Witbrodt dropped in later in June. Micaiah had a blast with them all and had a bit of a let down when all her undivided attention left. Here's a few photos of her time with the "Grands"...

Micaiah seems to be mastering new words and sounds every day. It's been so much for to listen to her little vocabulary grow! Here's a peek into Micaiah's "little dictionary"...

Words: hi, bye-bye, turtle, car, ball, baby, yes, no, all done, towel, ma, da, toes, two-three-wee, eye, the end, amen, yea, teddy, Elmo, uh-oh

Sounds: elephant, sheep, rooster, cow, horse, car, choo-choo, fish, hamster, owl, wolf, goose, cat, vroom, beep beep

This is the only picture I have from my best friend's wedding. This is the only picture I needed from my best friend's wedding. Ask her. She'll tell you. We have a small collection. This is chapter two:

Erin Christine West and Kari Michelle JOHNSON (hooray!)

BLAH!!!

That about sums up the day. It's one o'clock in the afternoon but it feels like night. The rain has been pummeling our house since yesterday evening. I miss the sun. We all do.

The first half of the week was gorgeous. Simply beautiful. I needed to remember. And because I needed to remember, you get to reap the benefits. Here's a glimpse into the early part of the week. The sunny, 70 degree filled, humidity free part. I miss it!

The Beach

It's been over a month since I last posted. Our calendar has been overwhelmed with bloggable moments. At some point I'll have to play catch-up. Until then, for those of you who are still checking our blog, if there are any of you left, here's the somewhat current...

Our family had occasion to head down to the island - that is Galveston - this past weekend. Let's just say it was a blast!!! This was Micaiah's first trip to the beach and she seriously couldn't get enough of it. Who needs a swimming suit anyway? It's official. Micaiah has no fear of the water. She absolutely loved the waves and was much more apt to run towards them or even try to sit in them rather than flee. She squished her hands in the sand, knocked down sandcastles, even picked up a few shells that caught her eye. What a wonderful day. Wish you all could have been a part of it.

She's ONE!!!!!

We're all familiar with the phrases exclaimed during such an occasion...

"I can't believe she's one already!"
"It went by so quickly!"
"Where has the time gone?"

I won't bore you with such musings. Let's get straight to the point. Our little girl is one and we LOVE it!!!

We were blessed to have Grandma and Grandmpa Witbrodt and Aunt Nora in town. We made the most of our time together and had a blast. Here's a glimpse into our birthday weekend extravaganza...

With weather in the 70's we were sure to spend some time in the park.

We visited the Blue Bell Creamery where Micaiah had her first taste of ice cream. She's not so sure about the sweet cold mushy stuff yet!

The girls in the house did some baking and cake decorating while the boys recovered the dinning room chairs. Both were a success and Micaiah actually ate and enjoyed her cake! Banana cake with cream cheese icing. Yum!

Her new clothing and toys were a big hit - especially after all she got from Mom and Dad was a new carseat.

We visited the zoo and saw all of her favorite animals... zebras (thus the zebra cake seen above), giraffes, lions and elephants. The baby elephant wins the prize this trip. Micaiah loved it so much she blew kisses! Too cute!

Got our first haircut. Mom and Dad are sad to see the little curls and whispies go. Micaiah's glad to be able to see!

All in all it was a great time. For those of you who were present here and in our thoughts, thanks for making this time special. Much love to you all!!!

What Could Have Been...

Those of you who know me well know I never get my act together early enough to mail Christmas cards to family and friends. If you didn't know this about me and were insulted because a card was not received, now you do. Sorry!

Just wanted you to see the photo from the Christmas card that could have - should have - would have been...

From our family to yours... MERRY (late) CHRISTMAS!!!
